THE VIDEO WORKSHOP IS GIVEN BY TWO YOUNG ARTISTS TEACHERS ERLA S. HARALDSDTTIR AND CRANIV AMBOLIA BOYD
Erla S. Haraldsdóttir (b. 1967) lives and works in Berlin and Reykjavík. She studied at the Royal University College of Fine Arts, Stockholm, the New Genres Department at the San Francisco Art Institute and the Valand School of Fine Art, Gothenburg. In her work she explores her geographical surrounding, through photography, drawing and video, which she combines in animations and photo collages where well-known neighbourhoods are transformed into animated scenery in which authentically filmed people operate. Her films generate disruptions that radically alter perceptions of the mundane, challenging the existing dynamics between place and population. Central themes are globalization, gentrification and racism, where she poses the possibility of a different, stranger world nested within the ordinary. She stretches the boundaries of film, drawing and animation, by building on documentary recordings altered by means of actual pencil or felt pen drawings. Her works are more than narrative, since they also give an account of the process of image production, in which you can follow her appropriation and reshaping of reality. A wide array of feelings plays the main role. The works investigate how memories come about, and how emotions and visual perception interact. Haraldsdóttir has exhibited in such institutions as Scandinavia House, New York, Museum of Contemporary Art Skopje in Macedonia and Singapore History Museum and is represented at Reykjavík Art Museum and Iceland as well as the National Public Art Council, Sweden.
Craniv Ambolia Boyd (b. 1983 in New York City) Is a Liberian American who lives and works in Berlin and Reykjavik. In 2007 he was awarded a BFA from the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, in New York City. He has exhibited in Berlin, Germany, New York City, U.S.A, and Skagaströnd, Iceland. His art is best described as an attempt to create a coherent personal universe through the selected media of: painting, sculpture and time based genres. Central issues in his artwork are, expressionism as it occurs in painting and film, and natural landscape. He is an artist, who writes about art. Central themes in his writing include current painting, Icelandic artists, and artists working with film and video.

CERAMICS IS GIVEN BY CURACAO WELL KNOWN ARTIST MISS
ELLEN SPIJKSTRA,
Traces from times long past play an important role in the work of ceramist and photographer, miss Ellen Spijkstra, who lived in Curacao since 1980. She attended the Minerva Academy of Fine arts in Groningen, The Netherlands and more or less stumbled into photography by accident father moving to the island…….
As soon as she arrived in Curacao, she became fascinated by the stones that were washed up on its beaches so weathered by the course of time. That process of erosion and damage, combined with the rhythmic play of structure and form, are the essential hallmark of her visuals language. In her photos it was the crumbling wall of Otrabanda then still dilapidated, that she first captured on film. The skin as the bearer of ceramics on the island is enormous. She began during the eighties by giving lessons. Since the nineties she has been organizing workshops in her studio Girouette. Ceramics of international renown(…) Have been her guests. Some of her students (…) now work as independent visual artists.
